What they needed
Professor Latty had previously posted the program details and the student’s work on the journalsim.nyu.edu website, but the site wasn’t designed well, was difficult to navigate, and even harder for her to maintain year after year. She wanted the site to have a more modern and urban vibe that better reflected the personalities of the New York City students that would be interested in the workshop.
What we did
The project was divided into two phases. In the first phase, we had to design and develop a site that would spotlight the program and allow for students to apply online. The second phase was to design and develop a site called, The Spectrum, that would feature the final pieces that were produced by the students. We were under a tight deadline because the site needed to be live before the application deadline, so we got to work right away on wire-framing and color comping the site. After the first stage was complete, we moved on to The Spectrum blog and created something with a cool vibe that the students really got excited about.
The result
The students used the site to actively blog about their days and it became a great way for their family and friends to share in their experiences. It was great for us to be able to help kids get a taste of the real world and we hope the site continues to engage future students of the program for many years to come.
What they said
"Working with 45royale was a dream. Working on a student project with lots of moving parts was complicated, but Adam and Matt led us through it with ease and patience. We were aware of every step and the results were amazing for us and our students."
