Ah, the holidays. Once again December is upon us and in the spirit of giving, I wanted to share something with my readers that I found on a blog that I enjoy.

Thanks to Andrew Escobar, a lot of people who wouldn’t have been able to try one of Apple’s newest pieces of software can now do so from any Mac that is running OS X 10.4.3. I have gotten a chance to play around with Front Row and I must say, I’m impressed. I am even more excited with the rumor spreading around the web that Apple is set to release an update to their incredibly popular Mac Mini; this time including an updated Front Row as the center-piece in your digital living room.

I think that Apple’s initial intention when they released the Mac Mini was to sway the disenchanted Windows user over to the Mac side. However, after it’s initial release, stories started popping up about Mini’s being used in cars, as RAIDs, and most popularly, as media centers. The BYODKM mantra was extended into BYOHDTV as people started using the Mini as their primary DVD player, receiver, FM radio, digital music and video library and much, much more. With the upcoming release of the next-gen Mac Mini, it is also speculated that it will include a “TiVo-killer device and an iPod dock” (according to the folks over at Think Secret). With all of these rumors flying around, the Macworld Expo San Francisco should be one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
