I don’t know how I stumbled upon Monument Monument, but I decided to download their album on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by what I heard. I’ve been rocking their EP for a couple months now and really enjoy their sound. If you were looking for bands to compare them to, you might look towards Atlanta’s own Copeland or Jimmy Eat World. Either way, it’s good music coming out of Detroit. Plus they offer a free download of their latest album just for visiting their site. From their MySpace page:

Monument Monument began in 2004 strictly as a two piece studio project. Due to plenty of positive feedback, the two piece soon became a full band and have been creating a buzz ever since. Monument Monument self released the “Call off the Roses” EP in june of 2006 and embarked on several extensive self booked US tours to help promote the record. When not on the road, the band maintains a strict practice and show schedule to help perfect their sound. Keep a watchful eye out for these great lakes gentlemen because they have a very promising future ahead.
