We’ve been listening to The Cool Kids for a while now, but when we came across an early mix-tape of theirs, this song definitely stuck out. It’s a perfect blend between old-school hip-hop and new-school swagger. You can download this mixtape, as well as their latest effort, Gone Fishin’, with Atlanta’s own Don Cannon.
They are scheduled to release an album in 2009 called When Fish Ride Bicycles and are said to be working with Don Cannon on this album as well. We’ll be waiting impatiently for the new album to drop, hopefully later this year. Any Cool Kids fans out there? Let us know in the comments!
The Cool Kids – Action Figures followed by Bassment Party are my favorites. I just dig how minimal Action Figures is and how Bassment Party sounds like a old school Tone Loc party song.
Bassment Party is a jam that definitely gets the crowd moving!
But I have to admit, I’d never heard Action Figures so I did a little research. I bought Bake Sale from iTunes and that song wasn’t included, but I was able to track down the extra cuts that didn’t make it in to the final release. I gotta say, that’s probably my new favorite now, I can definitely see why you like it!
Thanks for the comment!
Definitely a Cool Kids fan. First heard ‘Gold & a Pager’ when the single came out & loved it. Never heard of Action Figures so will have to check them out.
