Vote Earth!
Between laptops, desktops, monitors, hard drives and phones, we web professionals can use up our fair share of electricity. Being constantly “on”, it’s easy to take a lot of the energy we use for granted. We consume and consume, but rarely think about giving it back. Well now’s the time for redemption! Join the world for Earth Hour this year and Vote Earth!
On Saturday, March 28th at 8:30pm, you can do your part to reduce global warming by turning your lights off for one hour. That’s all you have to do to be part of a global movement that includes the likes of Paris, Toronto and even Las Vegas. Below is a bit more information from their site:
In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.
If you’re feeling inspired, you can sign up and make an official statement at the Earth Hour website and have your vote counted.
Thanks for promoting Vote Earth. The new Vote Earth 2009 global website has launched. There is an element on the site that incorporates Google’s Friend Connect and we want to get 1 billion people on the site by November 2009, just before Copenhagen.
To get involved, all you need to do is:
1. Go to the site – http://www.voteearth2009.org
2. Register with Friend Connect
3. Send to a friend and get more people to sign up.
It would be great if you could help getting more people involved – your clients, your collegues and you. Thanks for your help.
Get involved and VOTE EARTH!
